combining treatment as usual and experimental placebo control groups in one meta analysis

Hi all,

I'm conducting a sr and meta analysis of interventions that target children with ADHD in school settings.  The studies reviewed include both treatment as usual comparisons and experiments placebo controls.  Can these types of studies be combined in a single meta analytic synthesis?  I wondered about conducting a moderator analysis using design type as a predictor variable?

Any comments welcome!

thanks,

As long as both types of studies use the same two-group design, my understanding is that you could combine them.  It sounds like you anticipate heterogeneity of effect size from this a priori so random effects assumptions would be indicated and conducting a moderator analysis with design type as your moderator also makes good sense.  Happy meta-analyzing!

There are a lot of options how you can heal yourself, by physical exercises, or by smoking cannabis, for example.

In my opinion,  there is nothing better than few drops of CBD oil every single day.

Did you try smoking marijuana after hard work day?

I always prefer to order CBD in capsules like these - click to find out more . They have no smell or taste or something like that, that's why I love them way more than regular CBD hemp oil or smoking cannabis as it is. Since the first time I've tried CBD products, I've said that it's gonna be the product # 1 of the sphere of relaxation.
