Help with graphing effect sizes with confidence intervals

Hi,I need to plot multiple RRs and CIs in groups similar to how it is shown on this page: http://blogs.sas.com/content/graphicallyspeaking/2012/08/12/non-breaking-space/I am not familiar with SAS, but I was able to use the code presented on the SAS blog and modify it with my own values. I have a few issues which I haven't been able to resolveI need labels showing "Favors experimental" or "Favors…See More

Analysis of cross-over trials (dichotomous outcomes)

Hi all,The Cochrane handbook doesn't say much other than consulting an statistician when it comes to analyzing dichotomous outcomes in cross-over trials. Can anyone tell me how to pool dichotomous data from cross-over trials in a meta-analysis? Thanks in advance. See More

Meta-regression question

As I mentioned in the 'methodological quality' forum, I am currently working on a risk association meta-analysis involving case-control studies. Not surprisingly, our meta-analysis has a substantial heterogeneity of I-squared of 90%. We are trying to do a metaregression and subgroup analysis which might explain some of the heterogeneity. The question I have is how do we form a regression equation in the form of y = a+bx? Is Y here the 90% heterogeneity? And the regression variable (b1, b2, b3,…See More

"I am working on a meta-analysis of risk association. We are including only case-control studies and we are using the NOS (Newcastle-Ottawa scale) to rate the quality of studies. However, we are having some difficulty interpreting the exposure…"

"Happy New Year! That's an interesting problem. The answer would seem to revolve around knowing what the population standard deviation (SD) is on the critical outcome measure. The Cochrane review you cite probably did dual meta-analyses, one…"

Backtranslating standardized mean differences to raw means - need assistance

Hello all,Happy new year. I discovered this forum while searching for meta-analysis resources on google. I am currently working on a meta-analysis where one of the outcomes is reduction in pain as measure by different pain scales (mostly 100mm VAS). The challenge we are facing is how does one backtranslate the SMD to something meaningful like raw means and NNT? If we can solve this problem, then the SMD value we have will be clinically meaningful. What I am looking for is something that sounds…See More
